Just performed my first Carmina Burana over the weekend. What a special and impressive experience. It took place in a former military indoor riding arena in Aarau, Switzerland. This bombastic piece is certainly more than just the famous beginning and ending.
It was a pleasure to perform in this small version for choir, soloists, two pianos and percussions. As I expected it was a massive challenge to sing the baritone-part for the first time in concert. Not everything worked out the way I wanted to (some textual difficulties) but in the bigger picture I am happy to have shown two very solid performances. It was also a big pleasure to have sung once again with my great colleague Amelia Scicolone. I cannot wait to perform with her again.
